Art of the Irish People and Landscape

After her Marriage to Ernie O’Malley, the couple settled in Dublin. There, Helen began focusing more on photography and sculpture. In her photography, Helen wanted to capture the history of Ireland and the effects of English colonization. Ernie and Helen traveled across the country to archeological sites and ancient ruins. Her photographs of these sites showcase Ireland’s pre-colonization past, and the weathering of the items represented the attempted erasure of Ireland’s catholic past. Helen also photographed portraits of Ireland’s working class, and the landscape of Ireland's coasts, fields, and towns.
