About this Digital Exhibit: 2006 and 2021

The original version of this online exhibition is based on the physical exhibition, Susan B. Anthony: Celebrating “A Heroic Life”, curated by Mary M. Huth that was on display in the Department of Rare Books and Special Collections, Rush Rhees Library. The exhibition opened on March 13, 2006, the one-hundredth anniversary of Susan B. Anthony’s death, and continued through August 2006. The original digital exhibit was designed and constructed by Melissa Mead, and the photography was done by Melissa Mead and Christine L. Elfman.
The exhibition features letters, photographs, printed material and memorabilia drawn from the Department’s extensive Anthony and woman suffrage collections.
In 2020, the digital exhibition was migrated and reimagined in the Omeka platform by Jessica Lacher-Feldman, and Katelyn Gibson, '21 using all of the original content and architecture. The migration project was part of a larger website migration.
The background on these pages was created from an image by Michael Osadciw in conjunction with the celebration of Susan B. Anthony's 200th birthday in 2020.  The original exhibit background was taken from a detail of a handkerchief that belonged to Susan B. Anthony.
