UR Summer Theater collection
Biographical/Historical note
The University of Rochester Summer Theater was founded in 1968 to offer professional training to undergraduates, eventually attracting students from all over the world to work with experienced actors and technical staff. By the end of the 1980s, however, University felt that not enough students were benefitting from the progam and decided to focus more on theater productions during the academic year. The URST subsequently closed in 1989 after over twenty-two seasons of plays ranging from Shakespeare to avant-garde contemporary works.
