Scope and Content
Box 1 consists of documents assembled and notes made by Donald B. Gilchrist for his "History of the University of Rochester Libraries" in 1937. Also included are other manuscript materials relating to the Library and its history. Some of these were removed from the University General file in the Department of Special Collections in September 1969.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
Folders 25a and 27 of Box 1 were received from Catherine D. Hayes, Assistant Librarian, on September 4, 1970. Folder 30 was received from the Cataloging Department in May 1985. Folder 31 was received from the Acquisition Department (Helen Powers's office) on May 1993. Folder 32 and 33 received were received from Catherine Hayes in April 1999. The remainder of the collection is ongoing and consists of a miscellaneous materials gradually added over the years. Folders 1 and 5 of Box 2 were received in February 1981 from Jim Martin, who also transferred Folder 11 in February 1982. Bunny Zemel (University Development) transferred Folder 13 in 1980. Folders 1 and 2 in Box 3 were received from Mary Haslam in January 1990.Access
