Biographical/Historical Note
The Keidaeans are an honorary society for seniors that formed at the University of Rochester in 1925. Members are chosen based on their academic merits and are inducted each spring in a "tap day" ceremony. Originally all male, the Keidaeans began accepting women in 1971. The group is still active today.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The Keidaeans material held in the University Archives was first received from Ronald Jackson, Dean of Student Life, in August 1968. The membership lists and photographs were received from Dean Kenneth Clark in July 1972. In October 1975 Dean Clark transferred the anniversary guestbook and pin. The photographs of the first "tapping" ceremony held on the new River Campus were donated in 1979 by Joe Morrissey, Class of 1932. The negatives and material related to Senior Week were transferred by the Keidaeans in May 2005. Initiation ceremony material was separated from the Student Activities Office: Subject Folders, 1926-1968.Accruals
