Biographical/Historical Note
President Cornelis de Kiewiet's Committee on Sites and Traditions helped with preparations for the merger of the College for Women and College for Men at the River Campus. The Committee was charged with choosing names for University buildings, putting up plaques and memorials, and providing suggestions for other commemorative objects. Dr. Carl K. Hersey of the Fine Arts Department was chairman of the committee from its inception in 1953.
Scope and Content
The collection contains two series, Correspondence and Subjects. Some correspondence and minutes files include other, related items such as agendas, drawings, typescripts, and manuscripts.
Arrangement
Material is arranged chronologically in the Correspondence series, and alphabetically in the Subjects series.
