Catherine M. Sutton-Sharpe papers
Biographical / Historical note
Catherine M. Sutton-Sharpe of Lincoln, England, was an admirer and collector of the works of Rudyard Kipling. Mrs. Sutton-Sharpe compiled an "'Easy to Find' Index to Rudyard Kipling's Verse", which is a title and first-line index to Kipling's poems. Much of the 1936 correspondence in the collection deals with her unsuccessful efforts to have the index published.
Scope and Contents
Mrs. Sutton-Sharpe was a member of the Kipling Society, and the collection contains programs, membership lists and other printed material of the Society established to discuss Kipling's work and "to do belated honour to, and to extend the influence of, the most patriotic, virile and imaginative of writers, who upholds the ideals of the English-speaking world".
