Biographical/Historical Note
Johanna O. Euler (1895-1983) immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1898 or 1899 at the age of 2 or 3 with her parents and five siblings. She lived at 21 Benton Street for the majority of her life, though she also lived on Mount Hope Avenue and Linden Street. After completing 8th grade, Euler entered the workforce and worked as a clerk, bookkeeper, and stenographer at various local businesses in Rochester until her death in 1983 at the age of 88.

Scope and Content
Johanna O. Euler's Rochester, NY photo album from 1895-1913 contains 50 pages, yet only 39 photographs. Most of the photographs are black and white 5" x 7", though there are some 3.25" x 5.5", some of which appear to be hand colored. A few of the photographs have captions such as "Flood 1913" or "First animated electric sign Orange Blossom Cigar," however many are unlabeled.

There are many streetscapes, including Oxford Street, State Street, West Avenue, and Driving Park Ave, as well as landscapes from Red Creek and the Genesee River. Some photographs include people – such as the one in front of John Zellweger's general store – and others include animals like dogs, horses, and donkeys. It is unknown if Euler was the photographer, though that is questionable for at least the first photo: it is noted that it was taken in 1895, the year of her birth in Germany.

The inside cover of this album notes that it belonged to "Miss Jo Euler" of 21 Benton Street Rochester, New York and that it is "Album No. 2." It is unknown where Album No. 1 may be; it was not acquired with this album.
