Biographical / Historical note

Adrian Waterstraat was born in 1908 in Macedon, New York. Before fighting in World War II, he worked as a truck driver. Waterstraat entered active duty in March 1944 and fought in several battles that took place in Central Europe and Germany . Early in 1945, Waterstraat was taken prisoner and held in Germany. Upon the war's conclusion, Waterstraat received the Good Conduct, European African Middle Eastern Campaign, and World War II Victory medals for his service.

Scope and Contents

The Adrian Waterstraat Papers are comprised of one series: Personal Papers. This series documents Waterstraat's service during World War II. Included in this collection are Waterstraat's military record, items related to his prisoner of war status, as well as one letter he wrote to his wife during his internment. Also included in this collection are several medals and awards.
