Caldwell family collection
Biographical/Historical note
William Henry Caldwell was born on November 5, 1842, and graduated from the University of Rochester in 1865. He worked in the lumber, furniture and manufacturing business as an adult. He founded the Caldwell Manufacturing Company in Rochester, New York, where he worked for thirty years. Caldwell married Miss Frances Church in 1884, and they had a daughter, Sarah Caldwell. William Henry Caldwell died on July 8, 1918.
Sarah Caldwell served as secretary of the Caldwell Manufacturing Company and died on April 25, 1954.
Scope and Contents
The Caldwell Family Collection is comprised of one series: Photographs, circa 1842-1954. This series is made up of photographs of family members, principally William Henry Caldwell, and his daughter Sarah Caldwell.

The Caldwell Family Collection is open for research use. Researchers are advised to contact the Rare Books Special Collections &apm; Preservation Department prior to visiting. Upon arrival, researchers will also be asked to fill out a registration form and provide photo identification.
Use
In consultation with a curator, reproductions may be made upon request. Permission to publish materials from the collection must be requested from a curator. Researchers are responsible for determining any copyright questions.
