The first meeting of the "Club," also known as the Pundit Club, was held at the home of Lewis Henry Morgan on November 7, 1854. Early members included Martin Brewer Anderson, David Jayne Hill, Asahel Clark Kendrick, Samuel Lattimore, William C. Morey, Samuel D. Porter, George H. Ellwanger, Edmund Lyon, Joseph O'Connor Arthur C. Parker and George Eastman. The Club continues to meet several times a year and to hear papers presented by members.
