Katharine Bowen Gale papers
Biographical / Historical note
Katharine Bowen Gale graduated from the University of Rochester in 1910. She became secretary to the Dean of Women of the University in 1915. Arthur Sullivan Gale, whom she married in 1939, was assistant professor of mathematics at the University of Rochester from 1905 to 1906, became Fayeweather Professor of Mathematics in 1906, and the Dean of Freshmen in 1921.
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of correspondence to Mrs. Gale from various members of the Bowen and Gale families. There are also many letters from alumni and faculty members of the University of Rochester at the time of the Gale's marriage. Also included in the papers is material on the settlement of the will of Adelaide M. Bowen, mother of Katharine Bowen Gale.

The Katharine Bowen Gale Papers is open for research use. Researchers are advised to contact the Rare Books Special Collections & Preservation Department prior to visiting. Upon arrival, researchers will also be asked to fill out a registration form and provide photo identification.
