Whitney Rogers Cross papers
Biographical/Historical note
Whitney Rogers Cross received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Rochester in 1934 and his Master of Arts degree in 1936. In 1945, he received a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Harvard University. He taught history at Connecticut and Smith Colleges and at West Virginia University. Dr. Cross died in 1955.
Scope and Contents
The Whitney Rogers Cross Papers includes carbon copies of his M.A. thesis, Creating a City: the History of Rochester from 1824 to 1834 (University of Rochester, 1936), and of his Ph. D dissertation, The Burned-Over District, 1825-1850 (Harvard University, 1944).
