Ebenezer Mudge was born circa February 26, 1682 in Northampton, Massachusetts. As an adult he settled in Sharon, Connecticut with his wife Abigail and they had twelve children. One of his sons, Ebenezer Jr. born in 1709, and moved from Connecticut and settled himself and his family in Virgil, New York. Another son, Abraham, born in 1728 settled in Florida, New York. The Mudges became landowners in New York state.
The Blodgett- Mudge Family Papers contains one series: Family Papers and consists of legal documents related to land ownership and businesses, receipts and writings. Writings include several pieces of correspondence.
The Blodgett-Mudge Family Papers is open for research use. Researchers are advised to contact the Rare Books Special Collections & Preservation Department prior to visiting. Upon arrival, researchers will also be asked to fill out a registration form and provide photo identification.
The Blodgett- Mudge Family Papers were made a gift of Fred Jordan on March 23, 1978 and February 2, 1982.
In consultation with a curator, reproductions may be made upon request. Permission to publish materials from the collection must be requested from a curator. Researchers are responsible for determining any copyright questions.
