Biographical/Historical note
Anne Kerr Holahan was a native of Rochester, N.Y. She was associated with its cultural revival in the early 1930s, although she lived most of her adult life in New York City. She was primarily a radio actress, but she did have a bit part in a stage production of "Liliom " in 1940. She numbered Clifford Odets, E. E. Cummings, Marianne Moore, and Llewellyn Powys among her friends. She also was a close friend of Walter Huston. Besides maintaining a keen interest in all of the performing arts, Anne Holahan was very concerned with liberal issues, especially the question of race relations. She worked for civil rights for African-Americans. She was also active in the Episcopal Church. She died suddenly on June 28, 1976, in New York City.
