The Rochester Clothiers' Exchange was formed in November 1890 as a response to the growing pressure of unions in Rochester, New York. The officer and members of the Exchange did not consider themselves strictly anti- union; rather, they wished to protect their economic interests.
This collections chronicles the history of the Exchange from 1961-1976. At the time of the organization's founding, member companies still included Michaels, Sterns and Co., Fashion Park, and Adler Brothers and Company among others.
The Rochester Clothiers' Exchange Collection is comprised of one series: Business Materials. There are meeting minutes from 1961-1968, letters written among Exchange members from 1961-1976, financial records, several press releases announcing new board members and two newspaper clippings.
