Biographical / Historical note
Dr. William Harold Dunn (1898-1955) was a member of the University of Rochester Class of 1923. He received his MD from Harvard in 1927 and served as a lieutenant colonel in the Army Medical Corps during World War II, seeing action in the Southwest Pacific and earning the Legion of Merit. Dunn was then employed as a consultant during the Nuremberg Trials. One of his duties was the clinical assessment of suspected Nazi war criminals, including the infamous Rudolf Hess. In civilian life Dr. Dunn was an associate professor of Clinical Psychology at the Medical College in New York and associate attending psychiatrist at The New York Hospital.
Scope and Contents
The papers contain many interesting documents related to Dunn's work at Nuremberg, as well as many papers and articles he wrote throughout his career. Articles and other material related to Hess and the Third Reich were added by Frederick Dunn after his father's death.
