The James Elwood Papers includes general correspondence, 1838-1888, including letters written by Henry O'Reilly, Joseph Hume, William Henry Seward, and Frederick Douglass which are indexed. Also included are miscellaneous scrapbooks, albums, and documents.
The James Elwood Papers is open for research use. Researchers are advised to contact the Rare Books Special Collections & Preservation Department prior to visiting. Upon arrival, researchers will also be asked to fill out a registration form and provide photo identification.
