Lloyd Benton Ball was born Pulteney, New York and died Rochester, New York, on May 21, 1948, at age 64.
Scope and Contents note
This collection contains nearly sixty letters by Ball to his wife, Lois, in Rochester, and to several others. They were written between March 31 and December 10, 1918 while on ship and as he served in the Personnel Department of the YMCA in Paris during the First World War. He writes of his work and experiences, responds to news in his wife's letters, asks for news of various kinds, and sends his love to his wife and children.

The Lloyd Benton Ball Papers is open for research use. Researchers are advised to contact the Rare Books Special Collections & Preservation Department prior to visiting. Upon arrival, researchers will also be asked to fill out a registration form and provide photo identification.
