Post Family Papers Digitization Project: Conversations Among 19th Century Celebrities

In 1866, Susan B. Anthony sent this convention notice to fellow activist, Amy Post. This and other letters exchanged between the Post family and 19th century celebrities can be seen as part of the Post Family Digitization Project, going live on September 13, 2012.

The 1866 National Woman's Rights Convention represented a split in the equal rights movement that had emerged after the Civil War. Rather than continue to fight for equal rights- possibly to the detriment of women's rights- reformers including Anthony- began to pull away from organizations and conferences that focused on securing rights for former slaves.
