Biographical/Historical note

Francis Hastings (often called "Frank") was originally from Rochester, where he had operated a nursery with his brother-in-law James Sibley. Hastings moved to Chicago sometime in the early 1840s.

Scope and Contents

The Hastings Horticultural Papers provide insight into the business of setting up a nursery in Chicago, along with much information regarding the various types of trees and plants shipped westward from Rochester.
