Pulver Company papers
Biographical / Historical note
The Pulver Company was a Rochester-based manufacturer of candy and chewing gum with offices located at 33 Canal Street. They were founded in 1899 Frank F. (a publisher) and Henry H. Pulver (an optician) as Pulver Chemical Company on 25 North Water Street. From c. 1903 to 1914 they were known as Pulver Chocolate & Chicle Manufacturing Co. Other office locations over time included 185 Platt Street, 85 Allen Street, and 295 State Street.
Scope and Contents
Pulver Company went out of business in 1954 and their materials - including ingredients - were sold at public auction.

The Pulver Company Papers is open for research use. Researchers are advised to contact the Rare Books Special Collections & Preservation Department prior to visiting. Upon arrival, researchers will also be asked to fill out a registration form and provide photo identification.
Use
In consultation with a curator, reproductions may be made upon request. Permission to publish materials from the collection must be requested from a curator. Researchers are responsible for determining any copyright questions.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
The Pulver Company Papers were purchased in June 2008 using the Alma Burner Creek Fund.
