In Manipur, India this girl demonstrates the art of weaving, as noted film maker and photographer William James documents her work. James made a career of traveling abroad to places like Cairo, South America, Chile, China, Japan and India. Born on June 11, 1911 in Rochester, New York, James graduated from the University of Rochester in 1933, and worked for Kodak as an assistant. Over the course of the next twenty years, James offered film goers and magazine readers alike the opportunity to experience foreign cultures through his art. From the William James Papers
