Biographical/Historical note

The Rochester chapter of the Young Men's Christian Association opened its first boys' camp in 1892. The original Camp Iola roamed for thirty years from Lake Ontario to Sodus Bay, then to Canadice Lake and various sites at Canandaigua Lake. A permanent location at Keuka Lake was dedicated in 1920 and named Camp Cory the following year.

As a summer camp for Rochester boys, Cory offered traditional activities such as hiking, swimming, and boating. Girls were admitted in the 1970s.
