More features from our Special Collections A winter day in Palmyra, NY is captured in this photograph taken about 100 years ago. It is part of a collection of 312 glass plate negatives of photographs taken by a member of the Garlock family. The images of people, activities, events, street scenes, houses, and pets provide a glimpse into everyday life in a small upstate New York town life during the period of 1890 to 1910. The photographs can be seen on the Department’s website. The glass plate negatives were a gift of John M. Topham in 1974. The printing of the negatives was made possible through funds provided by New York State for the conservation of materials in research libraries. |
