Concern for Dying papers

 Collection
Identifier: D.184

Biographical/Historical note

The Concern for Dying Papers contain materials relating to a local group whose support of euthanasia led them to form an organization with the goal of educating the public about the practice of assisted suicide. The organization began in Rochester as the Euthanasia Educational Fund (EEF) in 1968, an affiliate of the Euthanasia Society of America. The national and local group changed names several times, becoming the Euthanasia Educational Council in 1972, and finally the Concern For Dying in 1978.

Scope and Contents

The papers contain materials relating to the local chapter of these groups, collected and donated to the University of Rochester by Margaret (Miggie) Baum, who was chair of the local council. Materials include administrative reports, meeting minutes, copies of the newsletter and correspondence (mainly to and from Miggie Baum). The collection also contains many articles on the subject of euthanasia.
