The Letters

The Letters used in this project are primarily written by Douglass to his many correspondents; there are also a few letters written to Douglass, and several letters whose content is about Douglass. Each letter has been examined by the interns in the Project and they have written a brief synopsis of the contents.

The letters can be viewed by Date, by Recipient and by Assigned Number. At this time, only those Letters which have been used by the interns in their essays have full transciptions and accompanying images of the letters.

An Index is also available, which briefly lists correspondents, as well as places and people mentioned in the letters.
