Irvin Henry Rogers was born in 1857. In 1880 he graduated from the University of Rochester with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then taught school at Franklin Academy at Prattsburg, N.Y. (1880-1881) and at Union School at Belfast, N.Y. (1882-1884). In 1885 he began working for the Lehigh Railroad Company in Waverly, N.Y. as a clerk. In 1894 he became the chief clerk and cashier for the railroad in Rochester. He held this position until his retirement in 1937. Irvin Rogers died in 1942. The papers contain correspondence, much of it with University of Rochester classmates of Mr. Rogers, a diary from 1878 when he was a student at the University, financial and legal papers, class notebooks, and photographs.
