Dame Irene Vanbrugh papers
Biographical / Historical note
Dame Irene Vanbrugh was an English actress who first appeared on the stage in 1888. Her greatest successes were in plays by Pinero and Barrie. After 1933, she also appeared in several films. She was an enthusiastic supporter of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. In 1901, she married Dion Boucicault (1885-1929), and acted with him until his death.
