Biographical/Historical note

Edward Peck Curtis (born 1897), was a Rochester business executive who served as a pilot in World War I and on the European staff of the strategic air force during World War II. In 1956-1957 he was a special assistant for aviation facilities planning in the Eisenhower Administration.

Scope and Contents

Included in his Papers are a diary (a microfilm of this diary is kept with the diary) he kept in 1919-1920 while Secretary to John A. Gade, United States Commissioner to the Baltic Provinces; material relating to his service in World War II; the typescripts of a number of his speeches; and correspondence, including over forty letters, 1945-1967, from Dwight David Eisenhower.

The Edward Peck Curtis Papers is open for research use. Researchers are advised to contact the Rare Books Special Collections & Preservation Department prior to visiting. Upon arrival, researchers will also be asked to fill out a registration form and provide photo identification.

Use

In consultation with a curator, reproductions may be made upon request. Permission to publish materials from the collection must be requested from a curator. Researchers are responsible for determining any copyright questions.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The Papers were a gift of Mr. Curtis, January 1976 and April 1977.

In December 1983, Mr. Curtis gave the clippings relating to his career, 1930s to 1960s, which are found in Box 2.

In July 1986, Edward Peck Curtis, Jr. gave the 1962 vita of his father and the contents list of the film biography of his father done by the Rochester Museum and Science Center in 1977. They are in Box 1.
