Philip Bork papers

 Collection
Identifier: D.278

Biographical / Historical note

Philip Bork was the owner of a retail nursery in Tiffin, Ohio.

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of printed nursery catalogs, miscellaneous flyers, and letters sent to him by other wholesale nurseries between the 1880s and 1915. The catalogs give a list of the nursery's stock and the price for the stock in various quantities. The flyers usually highlight one product of a nursery and give a detailed description of that product. The letters are also descriptions of items for sale or invoices for stock Bork purchased. The literature is from nurserymen in seventeen states, the majority coming from New York (including several Rochester nurseries), Alabama, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Kansas, Ohio and New Jersey. Other states represented include California, Connecticut, Colorado, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Oregon, and Virginia.
