Biographical/Historical note

Green was a fiscal control monitor at the Kodak Elmgrove Road plant in Gates, NY in 1972 when she left the company. Green claimed gender discrimination prevented her advancement within Kodak Co. and that Kodak paid women less per hour than men with the same qualifications and experience.

Scope and Contents

The Edna M. Green Papers consist of material relating to an unsuccessful discrimination suit brought by Green against Eastman Kodak Company.

Material in the collection pertains to her legal proceedings with Kodak Co. between 1972-1983 and her struggle to obtain unemployment benefits. In addition, there are newspaper clippings collected by Green pertaining to her case against Kodak, and letters to and from Green to local newspapers and politicians pertaining to her grievance. Green also collected news clippings about other discrimination suits and grievances not directly related to her case.

The Edna M. Green Papers is open for research use. Researchers are advised to contact the Rare Books Special Collections & Preservation Department prior to visiting. Upon arrival, researchers will also be asked to fill out a registration form and provide photo identification.
