Luther Emmett Holt (Class of 1875) student notebook
Biographical/Historical note
Luther Emmett Holt was born in 1855. He attended the University of Rochester receiving an A.B. degree in 1875 and an. A.M. in 1878. In 1880 he received an M.D. degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, and in 1902 an LL.D. He also received a D.Sc. degree from Columbia University in 1904. He was a physician in New York City from 1880 to 1924, professor of diseases of children at New York Polyclinic from 1890 to 1901, professor at Columbia from 1902 to 1924, and the Scientific Director of the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research. Dr. Holt was also a trustee of the University of Rochester from 1902 until his death in 1924.
