Existence and Location of Originals
Reproduced on 17 reels of 35mm microfilm. Letters and documents relating to the Wadsworth families of Hartford, Conn., and Geneseo, N.Y. The manuscripts reproduced on these microfilms were loaned to us by James W. Wadsworth, of Hartford House, and William Perkins Wadsworth, of The Homestead, Geneseo. The papers from Hartford House are reproduced on the first three reels, and in general are the papers of James S. Wadsworth and his family. Those from The Homestead are for the most part papers of William Wolcott Wadsworth and his family, and contain more material on the growth and management of the Wadsworth estates. They are reproduced on reels 4-17. All of the papers were returned to the families, and most of them have since been dispersed, some in libraries of Connecticut, and some in the Library of Congress.
